Tsunami fundraisers
Downtowners continue to pitch in to raise money for victims of last year’s Indian Ocean tsunamis. Above, a group of Lower Manhattan chefs donated food at a fundraising event at the Tribeca Rooftop. The event was organized by chef Vikas Khanna, who used to cook at Salaam Bombay and now has his own school. Khanna trained near Madras, India, one of the many places hard hit by the tsunami. Below, Elaine Caswell belted a number at a blues fundraiser at Tribeca’s A & M Roadhouse.
