W.T.C. auxiliary cop promoted

Morris Faitelewicz, second vice chairperson of Community Board 3 and a Grand St. resident, was promoted to citywide coordinator/deputy inspector of the New York Police Department Auxiliary Police Support Emergency Services Rescue Unit at the end of last year. Faitelewicz, with 30 years of service, was commanding officer of the police auxiliary volunteer E.M.S. unit in the World Trade Center area and supervised other auxiliary units at the site for nearly nine months. He received a New York City Council proclamation in September 2002 honoring the unit for its volunteer work at ground zero on and after 9/11, and the Port Authority’s Exceptional Service Award in June of 2002 for his work at the W.T.C.
