Evacuation day walking tour Before Thanksgiving was a major holiday, New Yorkers celebrated Evacuation Day commemorating Nov. 25, 1783, the day George Washington’s continental army reentered New York City in the final act of the Revolutionary War. This year, celebrate Evacuation Day again where it all began! The Fraunces Tavern Museum is proud to present a unique walking tour of Revolutionary War sites in Lower Manhattan. Solo shows Hal Norman Krogstad’s exhibit , “Celebrating the Western Image,” will consist of black and white photographs of the American Southwest. Eric Cato’s exhibit, “Imago,” is a series of photographs of “invisible” surfaces such as graffiti and patterns found in the streets. “The Hope Cemetery: Celebrating the Past” is a display by Ellen Schaefer featuring the exquisite grave stones and monuments found in Barre, Vermont. “Persone e Posti” is a collection of sepia-toned prints by Yaqui Yamdrok.
