Evacuation day walking tour Before Thanksgiving was a major holiday, New Yorkers celebrated Evacuation Day commemorating Nov. 25, 1783, the day George Washingtons continental army reentered New York City in the final act of the Revolutionary War. This year, celebrate Evacuation Day again where it all began! The Fraunces Tavern Museum is proud to present a unique walking tour of Revolutionary War sites in Lower Manhattan.
