There were no Downtown Soccer League games last weekend because of Columbus Day, but that didnt stop four teams from competing in two thrilling games last Thursday night, Oct. 7.
12-13 Division
Burn and Fire engaged in a hard-fought contest . It was a tough back-and-forth struggle, with both teams playing very well. Burn played strong team defense and stopped Fires numerous offensive attacks. The game remained scoreless until the last seconds, when Burn center forward Gabe Cook collected a loose ball in midfield and launched a one-man break-a-way. He dribbled aggressively downfield past Fire defense and scored, making the final 1-0 victory for Burn, the teams first victory of the year after two losses and a tie.
Rapids defeated Crew, 4-2. Zach Carson and Max Davis scored goals for Crew.
