Last Monday, Scott LoBaido was painting a “Don’t Tread on Me” flag in front of the site of the proposed Cordoba House/Park51 Islamic cultural center on Park Place. Asked what the meaning of doing the painting there was, LoBaido declined comment, only saying it was meant to be “constitutional.” The artist’s Web site notes his “greatest creative accomplishment thus far” is his “Flags Across America,” where in 10 months he painted a large American flag on one rooftop in each of the 50 states, so U.S. soldiers flying home could look down and be greeted by the flag. His site also declares, “Let’s not be afraid to say: I love America!”
