Civil protests in the name of immigration reform
For two consecutive weeks members of the NY City Council, local residents and distinguished community leaders have conducted peaceful protests outside City Hall. The civil disobedience has led to numerous arrests, including 16 on May 17th, and is meant to pressure President Obama and Congress to push for immigration reform and to protest Arizona’s “show me your papers” law enacted by the state’s governor last month. |
