‘HOPE’ artist is feeling ‘DISGUST’ over politics
In the most excitement-generating installation yet at the “graffiti wall” at Houston St. and Bowery, last week saw Shepard Fairey, above, paste up a political mural, titled “These Parties Disgust Me.” The propaganda-style piece reflects the artist’s disappointment with America’s dysfunctional two-party system. The creator of the iconic Obama “HOPE” poster, Fairey has been underwhelmed with Obama, so far, too, feeling he hasn’t delivered on promised change enough. The mural is publicity for the Deitch Projects’ finale — Fairey’s “May Day” show, focusing on revolutionaries — opening May 1. |
