Porters mourn Polish tragedy
On Thurs., April 15, outside the 32BJ union — building service workers — headquarters at Sixth Ave. and Grand St., a memorial was left for the victims of the April 10 Polish Air Force plane crash that claimed the lives of all 96 people aboard, including Polish President Lech Kaczynski and his wife, other top Polish government officials and relatives of the victims of the Katyn massacre. They were all on their way to an event commemorating the 70th anniversary of the massacre of 22,000 Polish officers and intellectuals by the Soviets. |
