Festive festival of lights
On a frigid Saturday, Hanukkah’s second night, Chabad of Lower East Side held a candle-lighting event with a large menorah at Grand St. and East Broadway. Councilmember Alan Gerson rose to the occasion to do the honors. Yehoshua Soloman, a one-man band and singer, living up to his motto, provided “music and vocal excellence like no other,” as neighbors gathered to dance and eat the traditional latkes, or potato pancakes.
