Miss America on a mission
More than 1,000 homeless New Yorkers enjoyed a delicious three-course meal Monday at the Great Thanksgiving Banquet at New York City Rescue Mission, at Lafayette and White Sts. Miss America, Katie Stam, second from right, was honorary event chairperson. As well as handing out the hearty fare, Stam also signed autographs. A bevy of local politicos, officials and personalities also helped at the dinner, including Councilmember-elect Margaret Chin, former Mayor David Dinkins and Police Commissioner Ray Kelly.
