Rescue dogs and other working canines visited the Tribute WTC Center this month just before the Westminster Dog Show. N.Y.P.D. K-9 officer trainer Terryl Elder, at right with Maximus, an eight-year-old German Shepherd. He told a standing-room crowd in the center about the dogs who searched for bodies across the street at the W.T.C. “They never gave up, they never complained, they never came back and said, ‘I’m tired.’”
