Bye Bye Brits Historical actors marked Evacuation Day on Tues., Nov. 25, the 225th anniversary of the day when British troops fled New York. In 1783, the Red Coats placed the Union Jack on the Bowling Green flagpole and then greased it before leaving, but there were no such shenanigans on the anniversary day. A George Washington impersonator addressed the troops at Federal Hall, the site where the original George W. was sworn in as president. The National Park Service also ran events and programs at Trinity Church.
