Safety march

The families of firefighters Robert Beddia and Joseph Graffagnino led a march from the former Deutsche Bank building to City Hall Saturday, calling for better fire and safety regulations. Both men were killed last August fighting a fire in the building, which was badly damaged by the collapse of the Twin Towers. There had been numerous fire and building safety violations in the building prior to the fire and there is now a criminal investigation into the circumstances of the fire. The Lower Manhattan Development Corp., which owns the building, will be holding a public hearing to discuss the building’s decontamination and demolition plans July 1 at 6 p.m. at One Liberty Plaza.
