Donald’s new ‘Apprentice’?

To The Editor:
Re “B.S.A. backs Trump Soho, setting stage for lawsuit” (news article, May 9 -15):
This fight strikes me as eerily familiar to the opposition that the Soho Grand and Mercer hotels faced back in the mid-’90s. Sounds like the Donald has simply failed to come across with the proper “tribute” monies to the Soho Alliance as of yet, to quell their thirst for blood.

Perhaps if the Donald did, or if he were to, let’s say, offer Sean Sweeney a role as “The Apprentice,” this could all blow over and he might even find himself on the steering community of the Soho Alliance — just as the Mercer’s Andre Balazs did — rather then in court.

Liberty restraint

To The Editor:
When is the ghost tower (black widow) going to come down at 130 Liberty St.? Can demolition commence with indictments as indicated in a recent New York Post article?

It’s creepy. I worked in that building for six years, 1978-1984, and seeing it standing there keeps reminding me of bureaucratic incompetence not unlike the feds letting the whole thing happen in the first place because they did not share or care about national security information.

I know that Chase wants to tear it down and build a car ramp into a new supposedly secure garage.

Give me a break. They are cleaning up the toxic stuff -- how toxic could it be inside? I worked there. Can I sue if one day I get an asbestos-related disease?

My gut reaction after 9/11, and it remains to this day, is that that unimpressive piece of cheap urban architecture, what’s left of it, is begging to be turned into a 9/11 museum for those objects and remembrances that the glossy $500 million swimming pools are not going to adequately reflect.
