Capsoutos raise dough on Passover

Capsouto Frères raised about $28,000 Saturday and Sunday nights at Passover seder fundraisers. The money will benefit the American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee—a 94-year-old aid organization devoted to help those in need overseas.

The two-course meal at the Tribeca eatery was far from traditional seder fare with frittatas, poached salmon, baked okra, and layers of matzo with pureed potatoes, cheese and eggs.

With parents of Turkish origin, the Capsouto brothers, Sephardic Jews, started the local fundraiser in 1987 after the dramatic massacre at the Nevshalom Synagogue in Istanbul, Turkey.
