Tribeca Film Festival 2007
Fine art mashup
Making its North American premiere at sites across Manhattan this weekend, Paolo Cherchi Usais Passio might be the Tribeca Film Festivals best bet for fine art aficionados. Fusing together Arvo Parts classical score Passio which many hail as the last great musical masterpiece of last century with a silent black-and-white mirage of images pulled from across the 20th century, Passio is more notable for where festival organizers plan to show it. This Friday and Saturday, April 27 and 28, Passio will be showing at the Cathedral of St. John the Divine near Columbia University. Sunday the 29th, it will show Downtown at Trinity Church. And all performances will feature a live musical accompaniment. One things certain: It will be a movie event unlike any other to be found at Tribeca. David Johnson
