Police Blotter

Robbed hotel guests
An Atlanta couple and their 9-year-old daughter were returning to their room at the Hilton Millenium, 55 Church St., shortly before 9 p.m. Fri. April 13 when they were followed into the elevator by a man who got off with them at the 40th floor, followed them to their room, pulled a silver handgun and forced his way inside, police said. The robber, described as a white man about 25, stocky build, 5’7”, handcuffed the couple, bound the girl with tape, and took cash, an emerald ring, two laptop computers, their ATM card and forced them to divulge the card PIN number before fleeing, police said.

The girl broke free after a half hour and phoned a desk clerk who summoned police. An unauthorized withdrawal of $700 from the couple’s bank account was discovered later, police said.

The robber was wearing a black pea coat, blue jeans, brown shoes and was carrying a black North Face back pack, police said.

Pitt St. knifing
Police arrested David Torres, 40, on Sat. April 7 in connection with the March 26 slashing of a man in a Pitt St. apartment. Torres was arguing with his girlfriend in her apartment at 100 Pitt St. shortly before midnight March 26 when her son, 20, interceded. Torres slashed the victim’s right arm and fled, police said. Torres was charged with second degree assault and fourth degree criminal possession of a weapon. He was being held this week in lieu of $15,000 bail and is due to appear in court again on May 24.
