This Britney is a pig and also has troubles

Much like her human namesake, Britney Spareribs (above in orange, the new pink) got off to a fast start but then got distracted and was overtaken by Kevin Bacon (red, no relation to the actor) in a 140-foot pig race to celebrate the Year of the Pig, 4705, in Chinatown Sunday. Although there were plenty of jokes about the racers making a delicious conclusion to the Lunar New Year parade, all of the oinkers survived.

A group of dachshunds, looked a bit confused before their race, sponsored by the Daily News, perhaps because it had been a week since it was their year, 4704, the Year of the Dog.

There were also traditional lion and dragon dancers. That’s Kaitlyn Lew, 7,

Continuing the pioneering tradition of the Chinese Community Young Lions. Thirty-five years ago, the troupe was the first to allow girls and women to do the lion dance in Chinatown. A few hundred thousand people came to the neighborhood this year for the parade.
