Paying homage to a pioneer
Ella Joyce performed a dramatic reading of “A Rose Among Thorns,” her tribute to Civil Rights pioneer Rosa Parks at the Shooting Star Theater at the Seaport on Sunday. Parks’ refusal to move to the back of the bus in 1955 sparked the Montgomery, Ala. bus boycott, the beginning of the modern Civil Rights movement, and the emergence of Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr. as a national leader.
