Untitled shop reaches the end

Untitled, the postcard and art book store on Prince between W. Broadway and Thompson is the latest casualty of rising rents and closed its doors for the last time Jan. 17. Owners Bevan and Michele Davies moved the store from E. 10th St. back in 1973 after six years in the Village. Untitled epitomized the Soho art scene ambience of the ’70s and ’80s. At one time there were 4,000 different postcards arranged by artist for a mere 85 cents a card.

Danielle Rescigno of Carroll Gardens in Brooklyn used to come to the store frequently when she worked in the restaurants in the area. Last week, she came for one last visit with her son, Giovanni, seen here looking at a book of Frank Lloyd Wright while Bevan Davies stood on a ladder. Resicgno sighed and said “Another small store with character in this neighborhood closing.” It was her son’s first and last visit. He added, “I wish it wouldn’t close so I could see it some more.”
