Monday concert in the park

More than 10,000 people came to Battery Park July 4th for the Downtown Alliance’s annual free concert, which this year featured Yo La Tengo, Stephen Malkmus & the Jicks and Laura Cantrell. Tengo’s frontman, Ira Kaplan, waved his guitar in front of speakers to achieve their famed feedback sound, above. Below, a group of concert visitors had plenty to do during breaks.
