Yachting champion Dennis Conner signed an autograph last Thursday at a ceremony at Battery Park City’s North Cove Marina. The event marked the sailor’s first public appearance at North Cove since Conner and his partners, Michael Fortenbaugh and Jordan Gruzen, made a deal with the Battery Park City Authority to run the marina. “I moved to New York City after the 1992 America’s Cup,” said Conner, the only person to win the race four times and a former B.P.C. resident. “We put the catamaran together right on the other side of Merrill Lynch... . Look around from the Statue of Liberty to the wonderful ambiance of Downtown Manhattan. I really think it has the potential to be better and bigger than ever before.”
