The Local 74 team and the Silver Bears will vie for the whiffle ball championship of the Sol Laine League at 10:30 a.m. Sat. June 7 at Sol Laine Park on Henry St. between Montgomery and Jackson Sts. The semi-finals in the four-team league were on Sat. May 31 when Local 74 edged out the S & C Eagles 11-10, and the Silver Bears defeated the Lopez Lions 8-6. The league, comprised of youngsters mostly from the Vladeck Houses on the Lower East Side, is celebrating its 11th season. |
