Signs were clear in Tribeca that Chick-fil-A has not quelled the controversy it started back in 2012 when one of the fast food chain’s top executives made statements opposing same sex marriage. The company also funded many anti-gay organizations, but soon after the uproar, the chain said it was getting out of politics. It’s not clear if either side took them at their word since some right wing politicians continued to flock to eat their chicken sandwiches, and boycott talk never fully died. The company filmed a commercial this week, presumably to promote its first N.Y.C. store coming to Midtown.
