Thurs., May 29 – Wed., June 4

ALTERNATE SIDE PARKING RULES ARE SUSPENDED THURSDAY AND WEDNESDAY FOR SOLEMNITY OF THE ASCENSION AND SHAVUOT

East River gridlock over the weekend! There will be a full weekend closure of all Manhattan-bound lanes on the Brooklyn Bridge. The closure will start midnight Friday night and run through 6 a.m. Monday morning. For Manhattan-bound travel, take the Manhattan or Williamsburg bridges, or the Battery Tunnel. While the closure will cut down on traffic around Park Row and City Hall, expect an uptick in traffic on Canal St., Delancey St., and West St.

You’ll get a sneak preview of the weekend gridlock Thursday night when the southbound Battery Park Underpass closes between West St./Route 9A and the F.D.R. midnight Thursday to 5 a.m. Friday.

Crossing the Hudson River won’t be any easier. Since the New York-bound tube of the Lincoln Tunnel will close 11 p.m. Thursday to 5 a.m. Friday, drivers will head down to the Holland Tunnel. That won’t be much better, since one New York-bound lane will close during the same hours. Expect slowdowns through the tunnel and onto Canal St.

On West St./Route 9A, one lane will close in each direction between West Thames St. and Vesey St. 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday and Friday, and 6 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Saturday.

The Little Italy Pedestrian Mall will close Mulberry St. between Canal and Broome Sts. and Hester St. between Mott and Baxter Sts. 5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. nightly through early September.

The Chinatown BID Family Festival will close Mott. St. between Canal St. and Chatham Square 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday.

The Washington Square Outdoor Art Exhibit will close Washington Square East between Waverly Pl. and West 4th St. noon to 6 p.m. Thursday through Sunday. The sidewalks will be filled with art on University Pl. between E 13th St. and Waverly Pl. and Washington Pl. between Washington Square East and Mercer St. as well.

The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation Walk will host thousands of walkers (and close sidewalks) on Lafayette St. between Worth and Reade Sts., Reade St. between Lafayette and Greenwich Sts. and Greenwich St. between Reade and Chambers Sts. 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday.
