I.S. 289 and M.A.T. split in B-ball doubleheader

The Dragons and Cougars battled it out in a basketball showdown between two of Lower Manhattan’s middle schools Dec. 14.

The Manhattan Academy of Technology Dragons in Chinatown and Battery Park City’s I.S. 289′s Cougars girls teams played first followed by the boys teams.

I.S. 289′s Lady Cougars, coached by Manhattan Youth, started strong in the first half of the game against the M.A.T. Dragons. The Cougars were led by Amy Wang, who had 5 points at the half for a 12-11 Cougar lead. The Dragons upped the pressure in the second half, causing turnovers from the opposing team in the third quarter. The Dragons took the lead in the fourth quarter, giving them the win over the Lady Cougars.

M.A.T. won 29-23. The high scorer for the Dragons was D. Ziripilo with 12. High scorer for the Cougars was Althea Jackson de Rosa, who ended the game with 10 points.

The boys’ game opened with intense heat from the M.A.T. Dragons — but they could not contain the I.S. 289 Cougars, led by Kobi Greene with 21 points. Teammate David Yourke chipped in with 8 points and 7 steals. The Cougars maintained their lead throughout the game, finishing with 49 points to 19 for the Dragons.

  3. I and a friend were looking for thesis editing services during our M.Phil. course. I searched the internet and we found this site. The customer service response was prompt on phone as well as on chat. Just a few minutes of interaction and we were told our tasks would be completed soon. Impressive really!
